Emphasis on responding by phone, chat and email

In light of the public health emergency currently in effect due to the COVID-19 virus, residents and other customers who need to contact the service desk and service centre of the City of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to send an email, chat with staff via the website's live chat, or call 585-5500. The council wishes to limit footfall at its premises in order to continue providing essential services and to ensure the safety of everyone involved. 

Using electronic methods for communication with the local council these days

In light of the public health emergency currently in effect due to the COVID-19 virus, residents and other customers who have business at the City of Hafnarfjörður's service centre at Strandgata 6 and the City of Hafnarfjörður's service centre at Norðurh ellur 2 are encouraged to send an email to hafnarfjordur@hafnarfjordur.is, chat with staff via our website's live chat www.hafnarfjordur.is or call 585-5500. The council wishes to limit traffic to the premises to ensure the continued provision of essential services and the safety of all concerned. The premises will remain open during normal business hours for essential business. 

Please note that from Wednesday, 7th October 2020, the service desk at Strandgata 6 will be closed for lunch from 12 noon to 1 pm. Telephone and online services will remain available during this time. 

Online services are open every day from 8 am to 4 pm.

We would like to point residents and other customers to the fact that detailed information about the council's activities can be found on the City of Hafnarfjörður's website. www.hafnarfjordur.is in addition to applications and data on My Pages . You can also find the live chat, which is open during the same hours as customer service, from 8 am to 4 pm, every weekday. 

Hafnarfjörður also maintains Facebook page  and there, residents and customers can submit a message which will be answered during the service desk's opening hours.
