The last beam has been raised in the new sports hall.
Councillors, representatives of Haukar and representatives of ÍAV celebrated together yesterday that the last beam had been erected in Haukar's new sports hall at Ásvellir. The topping-out ceremony was well attended and the atmosphere was good, as anticipation for this multi-purpose, heated sports facility is great. Mayor Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir took the first spadeful for this new Haukar sports hall on Monday, 12th April 2021, the 90th anniversary of the football club. A contract was awarded to ÍAV following a tender process, and the project is on schedule.
Half the work is done and the house is taking shape.
Yesterday, it was celebrated that the steelwork had all been erected and all the concrete work completed. Now the roof cladding will be fitted, the building insulated and clad on the outside. About half the work is behind them and Haukar are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The aim is to have the building ready for use as early as December, and the sports hall will be able to host top-flight matches. The ceiling height is 20 metres at its highest point, and it will seat around 900 people. Although the emphasis is on football, the building will be multi-purpose.

The dream will come true
Haukar have long awaited improved facilities for football at Ásvellir, and with the arrival of a magnificent football hall, that dream is becoming a reality. Impressive structures have risen at Ásvellir over recent decades. A new, impressive football house will completely transform Haukar's entire facility.
Come on Haukar!
