Objective European Week of Sport to promote sports and physical activity across Europe and thus counteract the growing sedentary lifestyle of the general public. The Sports Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or physical condition. The emphasis is on reaching grassroots level and encouraging the public to be more active in their daily lives. This year, the Public Sports Department of the ISI, in collaboration with the country's sports regions, is organising the European Week of Sport across the country, and hopefully in as many municipalities as possible.

The Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður encourages all sports clubs in Hafnarfjörður, organisations and individuals to take an active part in the sports week by organising open training sessions and open houses, events or other happenings that can be directly or indirectly linked to physical and mental exercise and health. Variety in physical activity is achieved through the active participation of the community.

Information about open houses, open training sessions and everything the staff of the City of Hafnarfjörður hear about is posted on the city's website.
