The European Week of Sport is held from 23rd to 30th September 2023 in over 30 European countries. The Healthy City of Hafnarfjörður encourages all sports clubs, organisations and individuals in Hafnarfjörður to take active part.

The European Week of Sport is held from 23 to 30 September 2023 in over 30 European countries. The aim of the week is to promote sport and physical activity across Europe and thus counteract the increasing sedentary lifestyle of the general public. The European Week of Sport is for everyone, regardless of age, background or physical ability. The emphasis is on reaching grassroots levels and encouraging the public to be more active in their daily lives.
Encouragement for individuals, sports clubs and organisations
The Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður encourages all sports clubs in Hafnarfjörður, organisations and individuals to take an active part in the sports week by organising open training sessions and open houses, events or other happenings that can be directly or indirectly linked to physical and mental exercise and health. Variety in physical activity is achieved through the active participation of the community. Information about open houses, open training sessions and anything the staff of Hafnarfjörður Municipality hear about is posted on the municipality's website.

#BeActive is the motto of the European Week of Sport, which is held in over 30 European countries from 25 September to 1 October.
