🎨 RIGA – ARTS & NATIONAL COSTUMES
🕒 12:00–17:00
📍 34 Strandgata
You are warmly welcome to Hafnarborg on 17th June, where two major exhibitions are on display to mark the 100th anniversaries of the birth of two influential artists:
🖌️ Ode to Colour – Sveinn Björnsson
An exhibition of works by Sveinn Björnsson (1925–1997) is currently on display in Sverrissal, where vibrant colours and emotive brushstrokes engage all the senses. Sveinn, who lived in Hafnarfjörður for many years and worked as a police officer, painted abstract works in his later years that are imbued with a yearning for life and a passion for colour itself.
🌈✨🎨
🖼️ In harmony with matter and spirit – Eiríkur Smith
In the main hall of Hafnarborg, an exhibition of works by Eiríkur Smith (1925–2016) is on display, spanning his entire diverse career – from his student years in Paris and Copenhagen to abstract paintings and realist works in which the land and human life meet in a visual language of harmony and strength. 🧘♂️🖌️🏞️
Italy Multilingual flag workshop at the Pharmacy from 12-2 pm. Materials will be provided on site to make your own Icelandic national flag from white, blue and red paper, but there will also be colours for those who want to let their imagination run wild and design their own flag.
