Elín Fanney Ólafsdóttir is an artist who lives and works in Hafnarfjörður. She has been working as an artist since 2017 and has, during that time, developed a personal visual world where abstract forms, lines and colours play a key role.

In her work, Elín often works with abstract imagery, where she plays with lines, shapes and text on the picture plane. She often uses bright and vibrant colours that form a dialogue with one another, creating tension, movement and emotional space within the work. Her work is based on both intuition and experimentation, where she explores how simple shapes and colours can convey mood, energy, and personal experience.

Elín completed a one-year course in fine art at the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts. Elín works on her pieces in her studio in Hafnarfjörður and at Listvinnslan in Reykjavík. She has taken part in numerous group exhibitions and continues to actively develop her artistic practice. She is set to participate in a Listvinnzlan exhibition at the Samúel Jónsson Art Museum in Selárdal, which is part of the programme for the Reykjavík Arts Festival 2026.

Alongside her art, Elín is active in sport, practising golf with the Golf Association for the Disabled in Iceland, as well as being a member of the Keili Golf Club. She has taken part in the Special Olympics World Games in golf on four occasions. She was a long-standing swimmer and is a multiple cup champion, and now trains powerlifting and shot put with great enthusiasm for Fjörður – a sports club for people with disabilities in Hafnarfjörður.

Elín draws inspiration from both art itself and the society around her. Her work places an emphasis on emotion, togetherness and the power of human experience, as she seeks to create pieces that resonate with the viewer and are open to different interpretations.

Her artistic process is guided by both intuition and experimentation, exploring how simple forms and colours can convey mood, energy, and personal experience.
