Monday 29 April, 3-5 pm will the artist Johann S. Vilhjálmsson Receive visitors and talk about their work at the exhibition. Written images But Monday is also the final day of the exhibition.

Jóhann works on paper, using various inks and colours, but in recent years the works have increasingly come to resemble pages from beautifully described medieval manuscripts. The works can be said to combine illustrations, for example dragon motifs and columns of text, on a coloured background. On closer inspection, however, we see that what appears to be text is not in any known script, but rather the images are designed for us to read into them something that perhaps cannot be put into words – that we read with our imagination.

The curators are Erling T. V. Klingenberg and Jón Proppé.

Free admission – all are welcome.
