The exhibition 'Fracture', featuring works by Gunnhildur Þórðardóttir, includes brand-new two- and three-dimensional pieces that explore fracture both as a physical phenomenon and as a visual interpretation. Thus, the works can be fragments of a day, time or space, fragments of nature, fragments of a pattern on a canvas or a tea towel, even fragments of a mountain, a waterfall or a memory, and fragments of a poem, etc. Gunnhildur's artworks often deal with philosophical phenomena, but in her art, she interprets her reflections on life and existence. Furthermore, the circular economy has always been a prominent theme in her work, as she is a great environmentalist. All the works in the exhibition are also made from fragments or offcuts of various materials, e.g. timber, or from items given a new purpose, such as old furniture, storage boxes, curtains or works of art.

Gunnhildur Þórðardóttir holds an MA in Arts Administration, a joint BA in History (Art History) and Fine Arts from the Cambridge School of Art, UK, and a postgraduate diploma in art education for both primary and secondary schools from the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
