The Flensborgarhlaupið takes place in Hafnarfjörður on 17 September. All proceeds from the Flensborgarhlaupið 2024 will go to The Pieta Association. The run starts at Flensburg School, 10 Hringbraut.
Timing
Tuesday, 17 September 2024 at 17:30.
Distance
10 km and 5 km timed, and a 3 km fun run untimed. The distances are measured by an accredited organisation. The race is staged in waves: the 10 km runners start first, followed by the 5 km, and finally the 3 km.
Running route and location
The starting line is at Flensborg School. From there, run up Selvogsgata and continue along Öldugata. Kaldárselvegur then takes over from Öldugata, and you run along it towards Hvaleyrarvatn. At the roundabout, you need to cross the road (Kaldárselvegur). Run through the underpass and alongside the stables, heading towards Hvaleyrarvatn.
- The 3 km run turns at the roundabout. There is no need to cross the road.
- The 5 km run turns on the path before the turning for Hvaleyrarvatn.
- The 10 km run runs past the turning for Hvaleyrarvatn and continues towards Helgafell.
Music and encouragement will be at all turning points, and refreshments will be available at the 5 km turning point.
Registration
Registration takes place at run.is, see above, until 1 p.m. on race day. On-the-day registration is not possible, but race packs will be available for collection from 4 p.m. at Flensborgarskólinn on Hringbraut. The prize-giving will also take place at Flensborgarskólinn after the race.
Participation fee
The registration fees are as follows:
- 1,000 kr. regardless of distance (18 and under)
- 3,000 kr for the 10 km and 5 km runs
- 1,500 kr. for a fun run, 3 km
The entry fee includes chip timing (5 km/10 km), marshalling and refreshments at the finish.
Prize
A secondary school champion in the 10 km will be crowned.
Prizes will also be awarded for the top three places in the 5 km and 10 km, in all categories.
