Tuesday, 3rd March at 12 We welcome you to the next lunchtime concert at Hafnarborg, where... Alda Ingibergsdóttir, soprano, guest Antonia Hevesi, pianist and artistic director of the concert series.

Alda Ingibergsdóttir was born and raised in Hafnarfjörður. She graduated from the Reykjavík School of Singing and then went on to postgraduate studies at Trinity College of Music in London, from where she graduated with a Fellowship Diploma. Among Alda's roles are Pamina in The Magic Flute, Lillian Russell in The Mother of Us All by Virgil Thomson, first spirit in The Magic Flute, Dísa in Magic-Lofti Jóns Ásgeirssonar, The Night Queen in The Magic Flute, Arzena in Gypsy Baron Strauss, Helena, the beautiful Helena in Offenbach's opera of the same name, and the cheerful widow in Lehár's operetta of the same name. Alda has also performed in numerous concerts and appeared as a soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Tufts Symphony Orchestra in Boston.

Antonia Hevesi, a pianist, has been the artistic director of the lunchtime concerts at Hafnarborg since their inception, and they have been a regular feature of the museum's programme since 2003. There, Antonía has been joined by many of the country's leading singers, with the aim of the concerts being to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music at their leisure. The lunchtime concerts are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.

The concert starts at 12 noon and will last for about half an hour. The venue opens at 11:30 am and the concert is open to all, subject to capacity. Admission is free.
