Sunday, 29 September at 2 pm will Elin Sigridur Maria Olafsdottir, an artist, will be welcoming guests at the exhibition. „We see what we want to see.“, which is currently on display at the museum in connection with Art Without Borders, but earlier this year Elín was named the festival's artist of the year. Then, Elín and Unnur Mjöll S. Leifsdóttir, curator, discusses the themes and focus of Elín's work.
The exhibition features a selection of works spanning the artist's career, from its beginning to the present day. Her subject matter is consistently adventurous, and she often explores the self in different ways as she channels her creativity into words and images. Furthermore, theatre and creative expression have also been a major part of Elín's life; she has worked with the Tjarnarleikhúsið theatre company for many years, published poetry collections, and been involved in all aspects of stage productions, such as costume and set design.
Elín Sigríður María Ólafsdóttir (b. 1983), an artist, actress and poet, has undertaken various courses of study, primarily in art both at home and abroad, and completed a diploma in art for people with disabilities from the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts in 2017. Elín's artworks have been featured widely in solo and group exhibitions, including at the Mosfellsbær Art Gallery and the Safnasafnið, as well as in books and magazines. Elín has also exhibited regularly in collaboration with Art without Borders, as well as providing consultancy on inclusion as a member of Listvinnslan.
