On Friday, 18th November at 6 p.m., the singer Margrét Eir will perform with a band at the third concert of this winter's Síðdegistónar series at Hafnarborg. Joining Margrét will be Karl Olgeir Olgeirsson on Hammond organ, Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir on drums and Andrés Þór on guitar. The programme will feature bluesy jazz and jazzy pop, dressed for the season.
The concert lasts for about an hour and is free of charge.

Margret Eir has worked as a singer and actress for over 25 years. She completed a degree in drama from Emerson College in Boston in 1998 and graduated from the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre in New York in 2007. Margrét has worked as a soloist and backing vocalist with the country's leading musicians, both in recording and in concert. She has released three solo albums and is currently working on the third album by the band Thin Jim, which she founded with Jökull Jörgensen. Her fourth album, MoR Duran, was a duet project and received significant attention in the United States and Canada. She has sung as a soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra three times, was one of the lead singers of Frostrósir, and has been a soloist on numerous large-scale concerts organised by Rigg Viðburðir. She holds her own annual Christmas concerts in Reykjavík and around the country, and recordings of the concert's repertoire are planned for early next year. Margrét has performed on all the country's major stages, acting and singing in some of the most popular musical theatre productions ever staged in Iceland, including *Hair*, *Mary Poppins* and *Les Misérables*.
Karl Olgeir Olgeirsson has been involved in many aspects of the Icelandic music scene as a songwriter, singer and musician. The piano is his primary instrument, but he plays a wide variety of others. Karl has composed music for films and worked as a sound engineer and arranger. He regularly performs with his jazz trios, Hot Eskimos and the Karl Orgeltrio. He was also the musical director for the improvisation group Improv Iceland. He was also the musical director and arranger for Frostrósir for eleven years, and handled the choral arrangements for Björk's album. Karl was nominated for three awards at the 2019 Icelandic Music Awards, winning two: Jazz Album of the Year and Composer of the Year in the jazz category for his album Mitt bláa hjarta.
Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir, a drummer, has been a prominent figure in the Icelandic music scene in recent years and has performed with many of the nation's most beloved artists, such as Flott, gugusar, Ragga Gísla, Hipsumhaps, Ceasetone, Rakel and Bubba Morthens. She was also in the house band for the television programme Glaumbær and has also worked as a substitute in the stage show 9 Lives at the Borgarleikhús. Sólrún is a graduate of FÍH, where she studied under the guidance of Matthías Hemstock and Einar Scheving.
Andrés Þór is one of the country's foremost jazz guitarists and has received numerous accolades for both his compositions and his record releases. He regularly performs in theatre productions and puts on numerous concerts across the country with his own bands and in collaboration with others. Andrés Þór is also the artistic director and founder of Síðdegistónar at Hafnarborg, an concert series which began at the museum in 2020.
