Mozart by candlelight in Hafnarfjörður Church, 19 December 9:00 p.m.

Camerarctica is holding its annual candlelit concerts in churches for the thirtieth time, just before Christmas.

The group has been playing the gentle music of Mozart for thirty years, and for many, it is an essential escape from the Christmas rush, into the tranquillity and candlelight of the twilight. The group consists of Ármann Helgason, clarinet; Eydís Franzdóttir, oboe; Hildigunnur Halldórsdóttir and Bryndís Pálsdóttir, violins; Svava Bernharðsdóttir, viola; and Sigurður Haldórsson, cello.

The programme will feature two of Mozart's gems: the Oboe Quartet, KV 370, and the much-acclaimed Clarinet Quintet, KV 581. As is tradition, the concert will conclude with Camerarctica playing the well-loved Christmas carol, “Joy to the World” from Mozart's The Magic Flute, and the churches will be lit only by candlelight.

Monday evening, 19th December

Kópavogskirkju
Tuesday evening, 20th December

Garden church
Wednesday evening, 21st December

The Cathedral in Reykjavík
Thursday evening, 22nd December

The concerts are an hour long and all of them start at 21:00.

Admission is kr. 3500, kr. 2500 for students and senior citizens, and free for children.
