Saturday, 6th April at 3 p.m. We warmly welcome you to the opening of the exhibition. jewellery – a sculpture for the body in Sverris Hall at Hafnarborg. There you can see objects by a diverse group of goldsmiths, jewellery designers and artists who shed light on jewellery in our contemporary era. The exhibition is set up in connection with Design March 2024.
Jewellery has been a part of humanity since the dawn of time. The need to adorn the body and clothing with jewellery is primal and has deep roots in the cultural history of all nations. Jewellery serves as a language in our culture and society. It tells a story, signifies status, conveys personality and sends messages. The exhibition reflects the diversity of materials, techniques and approaches in jewellery making in this country.
The participants are Anna Maria Pitt, Eagle-Witch, Ágústa Arnardóttir, James Merry, Hildur Ýr Jónsdóttir, Helga Mogensen, Katla Karlsdóttir, Orr and Marta Staworowska. The curator is Brynhildur Pálsdóttir.
