An intriguing show that could evoke nostalgia
The Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum is opening a new themed exhibition in the foyer of the Packhouse at 6 Vesturgata on Friday 7 June at 5 pm. The exhibition is entitled „A Village Becomes a Town, Hafnarfjörður 1960–1975'. The exhibition explores the population growth of Hafnarfjörður between 1960 and 1975, its effects and the changes that followed. The spirit of the 1960s and 1970s will hang over the exhibition space, where a living room and a teenager's bedroom have been recreated in the style of the blocks of flats being built at the time, along with various curiosities that will evoke nostalgia in visitors.
Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the Mayor, will open the exhibition with a short speech. Light refreshments will be served and admission is, of course, free.
