Friday, 8 March at 6 p.m. the quartet of the Danish drummer Ulrik Bisgaard and the Icelandic saxophonist Olafur Jónsson appear at the next Afternoon Concert in Hafnarborg, as Ulrik and Ólafur have worked together extensively in recent years and performed at numerous concerts in Denmark.

Ulrik is a versatile drummer on the Danish jazz scene with a melodic approach to the drum kit, a soft touch and a strong swing. In recent years, Ulrik has also worked on several world music projects where he combines Nordic expression with inspiration from Argentinian tango. He also greatly enjoys playing songs from the so-called American Songbook.

Along with them appear those Eyþór Gunnarsson, pianist, and Thorgrimur Jónsson, bass player. The programme will be based mainly on original music, alongside beautiful Danish and Icelandic folk songs which the duo have arranged for this occasion.

The concert lasts for about an hour and is free of charge.

The concert series is sponsored by the City of Hafnarfjörður, the Rannís Music Fund and the FÍH Cultural Fund.
