Christmas is approaching – and new titles are flooding the shelves. The Hafnarfjörður Library is celebrating carefully selected authors and their contribution to the Christmas book flood every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. throughout November.

The third author in November is Sunna Dís Másdóttir with the novel Kul, which is also her debut novel. The book tells the story of Una, who is sent by her GP to a pilot treatment programme for burnout and stress in a small fishing village in the Westfjords, during the darkest time of the year when the sun is not seen for two months.

Sunna is one of the Swikaskálda who have published the poetry collections 'I am not raising my hand', 'I am a Hymn of Joy' and 'Now I Cut My Nets', as well as the novel 'Oil', which was nominated for the 2021 Icelandic Book Awards. Sunna's first poetry collection, Plómur, was published in autumn 2022. Her short stories have also appeared in Tímariti Máls og menningar and Iceland Review.
