Tuesday, 4th March at 12 We welcome you to the next lunchtime concert at Hafnarborg, where the singer will be Hanna Ágústa Olgeirsdóttir guest Antonia Hevesi, pianist and artistic director of the concert series. The programme for the concert, entitled „Flirtation and Drama“, will feature carefully selected arias from operas and operettas by Verdi, Mozart, Lehár and Catalani.
Hanna Ágústa Olgeirsdóttir, soprano, was the winner of the Vox Domini singing competition in early 2024, where she also received the title of Voice of the Year. Hanna performed the role of Óla Lokbrár in the Chamber Opera's production of Hans and Gretel at Tjarnarbíó in December 2023 and was a soloist at the Reykholts Festival in 2023 and 2024. She has also sung widely in Europe, including the role of Papageno in The Magic Flute at Theater Rudolstadt in 2021. She was also one of the winners of the Young Soloists competition organised by the Iceland Academy of the Arts and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, and sang a solo at a concert with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in the spring of 2022.
She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Music Leipzig in 2022, where she studied singing under the guidance of Professor Carola Guber. She had previously studied singing at the Reykjavík Singing School, where she completed an advanced diploma under the guidance of Ólöf Kolbrún Harðardóttir. In the spring of 2016, Hanna received a scholarship from the Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson Memorial Fund to study at the Reykjavík College of Singing, and in 2021, she received a scholarship from the Heimir Klemenzson Memorial Fund. Hanna was named Artist of Borgarbyggð in 2024.
Antonia Hevesi, a pianist, has been the artistic director of the lunchtime concerts at Hafnarborg since their inception, and they have been a regular feature of the museum's programme since 2003. There, Antonía has been joined by many of the country's leading singers, with the aim of the concerts being to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music at their leisure. The lunchtime concerts are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.
The concert starts at 12 noon and will last for about half an hour. The venue opens at 11:30 am and the concert is open to all, subject to capacity. Admission is free.
