The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður will be open from 13:00 to 22:00 on Christmas Eve, 23 December 2022.
The beautifully decorated Christmas houses of Hafnarfjörður have long been nationally renowned for a variety of exciting gifts, gourmet treats, crafts and design. It is the ideal place to find that last-minute Christmas present whilst enjoying delicious food that warms you from the inside out.
Grýla and the Yule Lads will be roaming the town, promoting the festive programme which begins at 3 p.m. when the Hafnarfjörður School of Choreography performs Christmas dances in the Christmas Village. Sigga Beinteins and Grétar Örvars will then finally be hosting a Christmas ball in the Christmas Village again from 5 pm to 6 pm.
On St. Lucia's Eve, people will gather in Hellisgerði and set off on the Christmas Walk at 19:30, walking along Reykjavíkurveg to the Christmas Village at Thorsplan. Rebekka Blöndal, Davíð Sigurgeirs and Sigmar Þór Matthíasson will be welcoming walkers in Hellisgerði and playing Christmas jazz on stage from 7 p.m., and the Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad will be selling torches to support the squad's active rescue work. Margrét Arnardóttir will also be travelling around town with her accordion.
In the Christmas Village, the Christmas Bells welcome walkers and lead a sing-along, and Sigurður Guðmundsson rounds off this year's Christmas Village programme with some festive Christmas songs at 8 p.m.
The ice rink in front of the Bæjarbíó will be open from 12 noon to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and you can book a skating session. heart-swelling.is

Strandgata will become a pedestrianised zone from Lækjargata to Linnetsstíg while the Christmas Village is open, and Reykjavíkurveg will be closed to car traffic for a short time at 19:30 when the Christmas procession passes by.
