On Tuesday 5th May at 12 noon, we welcome you to the final lunchtime concert of this spring term at Hafnarborg, featuring the singer Elín Ósk…
Saturday 30 August at 2 pm We welcome you to an artist and curator talk with them. Dörshu Hewitt, Gunnhildur Haukdottir and Veronica Brovall, all of whom have works in the Hafnarborg's autumn exhibition, Absolute Squids. They will then guide visitors around the exhibition, talk about their own artistic creation, the origin and subject matter of their works, as well as discuss the exhibition's concept along with Jösu Baka, who is curating the exhibition in collaboration with Petra Hjartardóttir. Please note that the talk will be mostly in English.
The exhibition invites visitors to explore themes related to softness, strength and feminine energy in contemporary art. The exhibition revolves around the different manifestations of the feminine, divine and mythological archetypes, and the animism that views (Mother) Nature as an ever-changing being. These ideas are then examined in relation to their relevance to people, places and things, particularly now that feminine archetypes can be said to be emerging from their hiding places and transforming our understanding of identity and balance.
The artists whose works are on display are Berglind Ágústsdóttir and Hrefna Sigurðardóttir, Darsha Hewitt and Svava Skúladóttir, Dýrfinna Benita Basalan and Róska, Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir and Gunnþórunn Sveinsdóttir, Hildur Ása Henrýsdóttir and Kíkó Korriró, Hulda Vilhjálmsdóttir and Jóhannes S.
