Hafnarborg invites primary school children in Hafnarfjörður to come and take part in fun and creative art workshops run by the museum during the winter school holidays, on 23 and 24 February. Each workshop will have its own theme, so you are welcome to take part on one or both days.
Sculpture workshop
Thursday, 23 February, 1 pm - 3 pm
Plaster will be used to create sculptures in the style of the artist Sóley Eiríksdóttir, whose work is currently on show at the museum. Sóley herself created her larger sculptures by covering a framework with concrete, but that is where the plaster comes in this time. The workshop will be led by Unnur Mjöll S. Leifsdóttir, an artist and specialist at the Hafnarborg office.
Planet factory
Friday 24 February, 1 pm - 3 pm
In the workshop, participants will work with various colourful materials to create their own planets that change as they rotate and in the light. Together, the planets will then form a solar system that illuminates the „celestial sphere“. The workshop will be led by artist Þórdís Erla Zoëga.
The workshops take place in the Pharmacy on the first floor of the museum, and children are advised to be accompanied by an adult. As usual, participation in the art workshops is free of charge for visitors, as is admission to the museum's exhibitions. You are very welcome.
