You can spend the whole weekend in Hafnarborg. There will be a host of events. Yes, the cultural life awaits you here in Hafnarfjörður.

The Port City, a Source of Art 

The weekend will be eventful at Hafnarborg. Saturday, 28th February at 2 p.m. takes Eggert Pétursson, an artist, welcomes visitors and talks about his work at the exhibition. Red, which ends this same weekend.

The exhibition features both new paintings and graphic works by the artist, who for many years has attracted attention for his unique and passionate interest in Icelandic nature, and particularly the country's flora.

„This is a unique opportunity for visitors to come and listen to Pétur talk about his work,“ says Aldís Arnardóttir, the museum's director, as the exhibition has been on display since 20 November.

It is such a lovely coincidence that his son, Pétur Eggertsson, is appearing with Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir at Hafnarborg on Sunday.

They premiere Sunday, 1 March at 8 p.m. a new work that they have composed specifically as an intervention in the ongoing exhibition by the visual artist Una Björg Magnúsdóttir, Filling, in the main hall of Hafnarborg, the cultural and arts centre of Hafnarfjörður, but the concert is also the finale of the exhibition.

Lilja and Pétur will travel between locations within Una Björg's exhibition, where their sheet music and instruments will be transformed into sculptures. The event is part of Hafnarborg's concert series, Hljóðönum.

„It's like an intervention in the exhibition,“ says Aldís. „Yes, and a really fun connection to Eggert's exhibition. A veritable little Iceland,“ she says, smiling.

The weekend goes by and although it ends, there will still be plenty going on at Hafnarborg. Tuesday, 3rd March at 12 The museum welcomes you to the next lunchtime concert at Hafnarborg. The soprano Alda Ingibergsdóttir will be a guest of pianist and artistic director of the concert series, Antónia Hevesi.

And if that's not enough, there's a concert right today. Kristjana Stefánsdóttir's evening concert at 6 p.m.
