The Creative Summer Jobs finale takes place at the Innovation Centre by the Stream today between 3pm and 6pm. A packed programme. All welcome.

Harvest of Creative Summer Jobs

„We are very, very excited and looking forward to it. It's going to be fun,“ says Þorbjörg Signý Ágústsson, who undertook a creative summer job four years ago and is now the mentor for the scheme. The Creative Summer Jobs showcase will be held at the Innovation Centre today between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Ten people in nine groups. The young people have been there since the beginning of June, and the first hour will be spectacular, as five of them come forward to present their work. Tómas Vigur will play his violin at the end.

„We have a writer, a poet, musicians and people who made their own instruments in the group this year. Here you can see everything that mainstream art has branched out into. You can come here, see the people and the process, watch a short film made this summer and have a go on the instruments that were built,“ she says.

This year marks the sixth year of the creative summer jobs in Hafnarfjörður. The results of recent years have attracted attention. The young people are empowered, given the opportunity to work on their art, develop their ideas and try them out on the town's residents. „This changed my life,“ says Thorbjorg of her experience with the programme four years ago, the programme that now runs.
