Fjörukráin is the company of the year in Hafnarfjörður. It was named as such at a ceremony hosted by the Marketing Office of Hafnarfjörður on the last day of winter at Hafnarborg. The award shines a spotlight on businesses that have excelled in enhancing the business community and the town's atmosphere in Hafnarfjörður.

As stated in a report from the Marketing Bureau, the awards, previously known as the Marketing Bureau of Hafnarfjörður's Encouragement Awards, have been presented since 2017. They are awarded annually to a company whose operations, ambition and contribution have had a positive impact on the town's business life and the community as a whole.

Fjörukráin began as a small restaurant with a focus on Icelandic food and a Viking theme, where a special atmosphere was paramount—a genuine novelty in this country. Live entertainment, a Viking image, a historic setting and, above all, good food were the key to the establishment's success. This unique identity was deliberately developed and became the main trademark of Fjörukráin. For years, Fjörukráin has been one of the iconic venues of Hafnarfjörður, creating a strong identity for itself among both locals and visitors. Through dynamic operations, a clear image and a memorable experience, the company has been an important part of the town's life and has contributed to strengthening Hafnarfjörður as an interesting and vibrant destination, for tourists and Icelanders alike, and is an integral part of Hafnarfjörður's image.

„It is a great pleasure to be able to present Fjörukráin with this recognition. With its unique character, ambition and long-standing contribution, the company has had a positive impact on the atmosphere, social life and business life of Hafnarfjörður. Such companies are valuable to our community and truly deserve to be recognised,“ says Þóra Hrund Guðbrandsdóttir, Managing Director of the Marketing Bureau of Hafnarfjörður.

In addition to the Fjörukrá, Kjötkompaní and the Straumsvík aluminium smelter were nominated for Business of the Year in Hafnarfjörður. They all have in common that, in their own way, they have contributed to strengthening the town's business life, services and community.

On the same occasion, further awards were also presented. Barbara Coffee Bar received the award for Newcomer of the Year in Hafnarfjörður, while Burkni Flower Shop and Nonni Gull received special appreciation awards for their many years of significant contribution to the business community and townscape of Hafnarfjörður.

The City of Hafnarfjörður, like the Marketing Office of Hafnarfjörður, warmly congratulates all the companies that received awards and were nominated. Yes, you have most certainly contributed to making Hafnarfjörður a vibrant community for living, working and social life.
