An evaluation of quality standards in Icelandic sports

A review was recently presented to the Education Committee, commissioned by the City of Hafnarfjörður and the Hafnarfjörður Sports Federation, into whether the sports clubs in the town with service contracts with the City of Hafnarfjörður meet the quality standards set out in the agreement. 

All sports clubs with a service contract meet set quality standards.

A review by the City of Hafnarfjörður was recently presented to the education committee.
and the Hafnarfjörður Sports Association were concerned with whether sports clubs in
that the municipalities with a service contract with Hafnarfjörður fulfil the quality standards set out in the contract. 

The criteria have been tightened even further and now a specific gender ratio on the boards of the associations is required.  

The Hafnarfjörður Town Council agreed in 2018 to condition funding
to sports clubs and those who offer recreational activities for children and
adolescents, because the organisations set themselves codes of conduct, response plans and
Educate its people about violence, sexual harassment and sexual violence. Sports-
and the leisure committee created certain criteria and assessment standards which sports clubs are required to meet to at least 90% extent. In 2021, an assessment of these factors was carried out on these
sporting associations. At a meeting of the Sports and Leisure Committee this spring, the situation was assessed and it emerged that all the sporting associations that are members of
service contracts meet the criteria. For the 2022 financial year, the Sports and Leisure Committee

The divisions within them will have a gender ratio of 40/60. So, in a five-person
The board shall have at least two members of the same gender.
