General debt falls but pension liabilities rise

Regarding the RÚV report today on the debts of local authorities, it should be noted that at the beginning of 2016, the total debts of the A-sector amounted to 34
billion kroner. Of this, debts for pension liabilities were about 9.8
billion kronor.

At the end of 2018, total liabilities of the central government are expected to
amounting to approximately 37 billion króna. Of this, the liabilities are due to pension obligations.
12.5 billion króna and in addition, a debt due to the settlement with the Brú pension fund.
due to the state's agreement on 1.8 billion króna, or a total of around 14.3 billion
crown. 

Debt related to pension liabilities has therefore increased by 4.5
by billions of kroner over the period, while total debts have increased by 2.8 billion kroner, which means that other debts have
therefore reduced by 1.7 billion króna.
