Hafnarfjörður draws attention to the opportunity for disabled people who require specific support due to their disability to apply for grants under Article 25 of the Act No. 38/2018 on services for disabled people with long-term support needs.
The grant is intended for social and vocational rehabilitation, aimed at helping disabled people to find employment. The eligibility criteria are that applicants must be resident in Hafnarfjörður, be at least 18 years of age, and have a permanent disability assessment.
Local authorities are permitted to provide a grant towards tuition fees that are not paid under the provisions of other legislation. It is also permissible to provide a grant for the purchase of tools and equipment for home-based work or self-employment upon completion of rehabilitation, provided the activity is considered to have value as social training or rehabilitation aimed at facilitating employment for disabled people.
Applications are open from 1 to 30 September 2019.
