Grants for training, and for the purchase of tools and equipment for disabled people with long-term support needs.

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður draws attention to the possibility for disabled people who require specific support due to their disability to apply for a grant under Article 25 of the Act No. 38/2018 on services for disabled people with long-term support needs.

The grant is intended to enable disabled people to acquire the knowledge and experience to increase their opportunities to be active participants in society. The conditions for the grant are that the applicant is a resident of Hafnarfjörður, is aged 18 or over, and has a permanent disability assessment.

Local authorities are permitted to provide a grant towards the payment of tuition costs (course and school fees, and learning materials) not covered by other legislation. A grant for tools is also permitted.- and equipment purchases or other support for home-based work or self-employment upon completion of rehabilitation, provided the activity is considered to have value as social training or rehabilitation aimed at increasing the opportunities for disabled people to be active in society.

Applications are open from 1 September to 30 September 2020.

The right to an allocation expires if an application for a grant is not submitted within 12 months of the expense being incurred. The date on the original payment receipt is the relevant date. The deadline for grant applications for October 2021 is 30 September 2021.
