Hafnarfjörður is authorised to provide a grant towards the cost of tuition not covered by other legislation, provided the course is considered to have value as training or retraining. It is also permissible to provide disabled people aged 18 and over with a grant for the purchase of tools and equipment for home-based work or self-employment, provided the activity is considered to have value as social habilitation or rehabilitation aimed at facilitating for people with disabilities to create their own employment.
