Assessment of applications
The Culture and Tourism Committee of Hafnarfjörður awards grants from the house preservation fund, following a report from the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum. Applications are assessed in terms of preservation value, for example, due to architecture, cultural history, setting, authenticity and technical condition, as well as its value for the preservation of Hafnarfjörður's architectural heritage.
Emphasis is placed on supporting projects that restore the external features of buildings, such as windows and cladding, to their original state. Applications for works that constitute routine maintenance are generally not eligible for funding.
