The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved at its meeting today the appointment of Guðlaug Ósk Gísladóttir as Director of the Family and Child Welfare Department of the Borough of Hafnarfjörður. Guðlaug has worked as Head of the Service and Advisory Department at the Social Services Department of Kópavogur Municipality since 2000. Guðlaug will start her new role at the beginning of the new year.

The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved at its meeting today the appointment of Guðlaug Ósk Gísladóttir as Director of the Department of Family and Child Affairs for the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður. Guðlaug is a qualified social worker with an MPA in public administration from the University of Iceland and has worked as Head of the Service and Advisory Department at the Social Services Department of Kópavogur Municipality since 2000. Guðlaug will start her new role at the beginning of the new year.

Guðlaug has extensive and comprehensive management experience and knowledge in the field of social affairs, been involved in the implementation of major projects from central to local government, the creation of new regulations and the negotiation of contracts with third parties, been involved in shaping service oversight, sat on various advisory groups and participated in policy-making and the development of resources within policy areas. In her work, Guðlaug has overseen departments responsible for matters concerning disabled people, homes and workplaces, tourism, support and auxiliary services for disabled people, and NPA agreements, in addition to serving as an employee on the user council for disabled people. Guðlaug holds an MPA in Public Administration, a BA in Sociology and is a qualified social worker from the University of Iceland. She has been a board member of Pieta Iceland since spring 2020.

Guðlaug Ósk takes over the role from Rannveig Einarsdóttir, who has been appointed Director of the Social Services Department for the City of Reykjavík. Intellecta handled the recruitment process and 26 people applied for the position, but three withdrew their applications.
