Gudridur Osk Eliasdottir

At the start of the town council meeting on Wednesday, Guðríðar Óskar Elíasdóttir was remembered, as she had recently passed away.

Guðríður was a trade union leader and took an active part in social affairs. She was a leader of the Framtíðin Women's Trade Union in Hafnarfjörður and a former vice-president of the ASÍ. Guðrún Ósk was a pillar of the trade union movement and played a diverse role within it. She was an alternate town councillor from 1974 and a town councillor from 1977 to 1978 for the People's Party. 

Guðríður was awarded the honorary title of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon in 1997 for her work in trade unionism.
