High-pressure washing added to conventional street sweeping   

The spring sweeping of streets, pavements and footpaths in Hafnarfjörður is now in full swing, and this year the service is being further enhanced. In addition to the regular sweeping, high-pressure washing of streets within neighbourhoods will now also be carried out, specifically to improve the quality of the environment and the experience for residents and visitors. Immediately after Easter, work began on cleaning the town's main routes, and this operation will be completed in the coming days. At the same time, path cleaning began, with the main paths being tackled first, followed by other walking and cycle paths. Traffic islands and other selected areas are also being pressure washed.

Prayers divided into neighbourhoods

Hafnarfjörður is divided into 17 neighbourhoods, and one neighbourhood is dealt with each day. The day before street sweeping in a neighbourhood, signs are put up with information about the operation, and residents are kept informed as much as possible. In addition, text messages are sent to all residents who have registered their numbers on 1819.is. Street sweeping within the wards began in the town centre today.

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður encourages residents and businesses to take an active part in the clean-up. It is important that the streets are clear of cars on the day of the clean-up so that the kerbs and areas between parking spaces can be properly cleaned.
