Parents in Hafnarfjörður doing their bit

84% of children in Hafnarfjörður in the 8th-10th grades find it easy to discuss personal matters with their parents, 94% experience care and warmth from them, and 89% receive advice regarding their studies. This can be seen in the results of the Research and Analysis survey, which has just been published; a survey that was distributed to our young people this spring. The results show that 79% of the teenagers are often or almost always with their parents at weekends.

„Parents in Hafnarfjörður are generally hands-on in their children's upbringing. Parents eat dinner with their children, they generally know where they are and know their friends,“ she says. In recent days, Jóna Rán has been presenting the findings to school headteachers.

„92% of parents in Year 10 know their children's friends, and 94% of parents of Year 9 pupils and 96% of parents of Year 8 pupils. These are brilliant figures,“ she says.
