Hafnarfjörður Run 11 June – Road closures during the run

News

The Hafnarfjörður Run is being held for the fourth time tomorrow evening. Traffic delays are to be expected, but course marshals will let traffic through the route as and when they can.

Take part in one of the country's coolest runs!

Excellent conditions will be there again tomorrow night when The Hafnarfjörður Run It is taking place for the fourth time. The forecast is excellent, and there's a high chance that people will be improving their times.

The running route is particularly interesting. It runs from the town centre through the harbour's residential and commercial area. The Harbours of Hafnarfjörður and Eimskip are opening a customs area specifically to create one of the fastest road racing courses in the country.

The race starts from Thorsplan. Follow the green line in the direction indicated by the red arrows. The blue dots represent marshals. They will stop traffic and let it proceed as and when they see fit.

Hafnarfjörður is doing its bit! We will be closing the westbound lane of Strandgata (closest to the sea) from Flensborgartorg to Fjarðartorg for the duration of the run. Please expect traffic delays.

Staff, volunteer course marshals, will manage the road closures. Their role will be to ensure the safety of the runners and to let traffic through the course as appropriate, or to direct it via an alternative route.

Let's show courtesy and patience towards runners and marshals. Let's cheer on our people and make the experience the best it can be for all of us.
