Happy Star Wars Day!

May the Force be with us – today and all other days

May the Force be with us all in May and every other month of the year. It has become a tradition for the Hafnarfjörður Library to celebrate the fourth of May, Star Wars Day itself, among fans with life and vibrancy at the library. We'll have some brilliant guests dropping by, none other than everyone's favourite bad guys, the Emperor's 501st Legion. Who knows, His Imperial Highness himself and his right-hand man, Darth Vader, might also pay a visit! All kids get a badge (while stocks last) and there will be arts and crafts, demonstrations on how to make stormtrooper armour, treasure hunts and all sorts of entertainment for everyone interested, from all over the galaxy! Guests are encouraged to come in costume!

• 13 – The 501st Legion arrives, puts on a show and sees others. Badges handed out to kids.
• 13:30 – Star Wars Story Time
• 14 – The squad arrives, and Blackhead with them!
• 14:30 – Filming with the platoon

About Star Wars Day

Star Wars Day is celebrated worldwide with various events and gatherings on the 4th of May each year. The date of 4th May was originally chosen as an indirect reference to a famous line from the Star Wars films: May the Force be with you, which has been translated into Icelandic as: Megi krafturinn vera með þér and Megi sá fjórði vera með þér, with the latter phrase being used exclusively to define the celebration. Die-hard fans go all out on Star Wars Day, dressing up as their favourite characters, taking part in film marathons and/or attending parties and gatherings centred around Star Wars. Star Wars Day creates a wonderful opportunity for fans of all ages to come together, celebrate their interest and admiration for the saga.
