Hafnarborg's Autumn Exhibition 2025 – proposals invited
The deadline is midnight on 1 September. Proposals are invited for group exhibitions in which the theme, methodology or other ideas connect the work of up to eight artists. Exhibitions that offer an analysis of, or a focus on, the work of a specific artist are also considered.
Deadline midnight 1 September
As in previous years, curators have the opportunity to submit Suggestions for next year's autumn show at Hafnarborg. The autumn exhibition series began in 2011, and to date fourteen exhibitions have been selected from a large number of submissions by curators with diverse backgrounds and experience.
The aim of requesting submissions is to select a curator or curatorial team to collaborate with, who submits an interesting exhibition proposal, as well as providing a platform for emerging curators to present their ideas.
Proposals are invited for group exhibitions in which the theme, working method or other ideas connect the works of artists (up to eight in number). Exhibitions that involve an analysis of, or a focus on, the work of a specific artist are also considered. Proposals for exhibitions of contemporary artists' work and for exhibitions involving historical analysis are equally welcome.
The application process is in two parts, and the first part requests the following information.
- A description of the project, with an emphasis on the concept behind the exhibition (maximum 1000 words).
- Curator's CV(s).
- Short CVs of the artist or artists, as well as others proposed to be part of the exhibition project.
The deadline for submitting proposals is midnight on Sunday, 1 September.
Proposals are accepted by email at the address hafnarborg@hafnarfjordur.is However, applicants are asked to familiarise themselves with the application process on the Hafnarborg website (see here).
