Haukar's Activity Centre
The City of Hafnarfjörður and the football club Haukar have entered into an agreement for Haukar, with the support of the City of Hafnarfjörður, to continue running an after-school club for children aged 6 to 9. The after-school club is based at Ásvellir.

The after-school club is run on
At Ásvellir, there are currently 55 children registered for the after-school club, and this number is set to increase to 60 in the coming days. These are children who would otherwise be at the Hraunsel after-school club in Hraunvallaskóli.
There is general satisfaction with this project, and it gives the children an opportunity to
combine sports, exercise and various pastimes while they are at the after-school club. The managers were Magnús Gunnarsson and Fanney.

Emphasis on movement and playfulness
Haukar has been running an after-school club at Ásvellir for two years with great success. The club is available every weekday for primary school pupils in Year 1 and Year 2. The children are collected from school and brought to Ásvellir. At the Haukar after-school club, children play various games, tackle puzzles, go outside, play board games, build with Lego, colour in, and much more. The emphasis is on physical activity and games, but children are always welcome to take it easy with activities like colouring, playing games, and so on. The facilities include the Haukar assembly hall, the large sports hall and the surrounding nature. The Director is Íris Óskarsdóttir. She holds a BA degree in Leisure and Social Welfare Studies from the University of Iceland. She has been the director of the Lækjarskóli after-school club for several years and therefore has considerable experience.
