Helga is the new Director of the Finance Department.
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved at its meeting this week to appoint Helga Benediktsdóttir as Director of the Finance Department of the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður. Helga holds a Cand. Oecon. in accounting and finance from the University of Iceland, as well as an MS in business administration from the same institution.

Helga holds a Cand. Oecon. in accounting and finance from the University of Iceland, as well as an MS in business administration from the same institution. She has worked for the City of Reykjavík since 2012. Helga will start her new role this summer.
Extensive and comprehensive knowledge of local government finance
Helga has extensive and comprehensive experience and knowledge of local government finance, having worked as the Head of the Treasury and Collection Office at the City of Reykjavík since 2012, as well as being the Deputy Director of the Finance and Risk Management Department. Helga worked for almost six years at Teris (formerly the Computer Centre of the Savings Banks) and for 14 years at Sparisjóður Hafnarfjarðar. Helga has around twenty years of successful management experience, including participation in executive boards and management teams. Helga succeeds Rósa Steinsgrímsdóttir.
