Top athletes on full pay at sporting events
In the autumn, the Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved new regulations regarding staff leave to participate in sporting events, and managers are authorised to grant staff leave from their duties without a reduction in their fixed salary to take part in sporting events.
In the autumn months The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved new regulations concerning staff permission to participate in sporting competitions. and managers are authorised to grant staff leave from their duties without a reduction in their fixed salary to participate in sporting competitions. This leave is limited to players, managers and coaches for participation in the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships, Nordic Championships and national competitions.
With this decision and initiative, the City of Hafnarfjörður wishes to continue its health-promoting journey, both as an employer and a community. Now, by supporting the active elite athletes within the municipality and thereby enabling them to work alongside their sporting achievements. In March 2015, the City of Hafnarfjörður entered into an agreement with the Office of the National Commissioner for Health to participate in the 'Health Promoting Community' project. The municipality has since, in collaboration with residents, employees and other stakeholders, developed the City of Hafnarfjörður's health strategy. The health strategy supports Hafnarfjörður's vision for the future of increasing the well-being of its residents and employees through preventative measures.
