The Joke Town
Everyone who comes to the town should learn a few Hafnarfjörður jokes.
Hafnarfjörður Jokes
In most countries, it is customary to make fun of the inhabitants of certain regions and towns that are considered to stand out in some way. From this, amusing stories arise about people who are thought to be simple-minded or are in some way peculiar. It has now come to the point where the actions and remarks of Hafnarfjörður residents seem destined to become an inexhaustible wellspring of amusement for jesters and wits throughout the country. But of course, the people of Hafnarfjörður take it in their stride and just have fun with it. Many are absolutely delighted by the jokes about Hafnarfjörður, and it certainly doesn't hurt to have them at the ready when the Friends of Hafnarfjörður and other good folk from across the country open fire!
We encourage everyone who comes to town to learn a few Hafnarfjörður jokes so they can more easily adapt to our colourful community.
Two jokes
Why do the people of Hafnarfjörður put chairs out on their balconies in the evening?
Of course, so that the sun can set!
Why do people from Hafnarfjörður take a ladder with them to the shop?
Because the price is so high.

Joke Parade
In the app App-You can find a joke trail suitable for all, with jokes told every 100–200 metres. The walking route runs through the south of Hafnarfjörður. You walk along the seafront, where the sunset is at its most beautiful on a fine evening. From there, you walk up towards St. Joseph's Hospital and past the Carmelite Monastery, where it is ideal to climb the viewpoint and look out in all directions. From there, you head towards the churchyard, walk along it and down to Lækjarnir. Follow Lækjarnir back down to the town centre, past the old dam and the power station, and below it where you can say hello to swans, geese and cygnets.
The jokes are said to have a history spanning the globe and are often translated between languages and adapted. People can therefore expect to come across more or less the same jokes about the inhabitants of towns or cities in most countries of the world. There is no reason to dwell on it, but rather to go for a good walk, allow yourself to laugh and smile, and enjoy being alive.
