Ice, sand and salt

News

Salt and sand may come in handy, given the forecast for the next few days. Residents can collect sand from the Service Centre at Norðurhella 2 to improve safety on nearby footpaths and driveways.

There is significant ice and slush on the roads, pavements and car parks throughout the town these days due to unusual weather conditions. The City of Hafnarfjörður's Service Centre is on duty 24/7 for gritting and sanding, but this is not always sufficient.

Salt and sand can be useful with the forecast for the coming days. Residents can collect sand from the Service Centre at Norðurhella 2 to improve safety on nearby footpaths and driveways. Residents are encouraged to bring their own containers, but it is also possible to get a bag on site, where shovels are also available for residents to use. The bins are always filled at the end of the day.
