Icelandic Music Awards 2021 – number of nominations related to Hafnarborg

Hafnarfjörður warmly congratulates Hafnarborg and all the artists who received nominations for the 2021 Icelandic Music Awards in a wide variety of categories. The town's artistic and cultural life is truly rich.

Nominations for the 2021 Icelandic Music Awards

The City of Hafnarfjörður joins the Hafnarfjörður Festival of Song in its congratulations to all concerned and warmly congratulates Guðrún Jóhanna Ólafsdóttir and Francisco Javier Jáuregui, founders and directors of the Hafnarfjörður Festival of Song, on their nominations to Icelandic Music Awards 2021 but the Hafnarborg Song Festival is nominated for „Music Event of the Year – Festivals“, as well as the Stuart Skelton concert, The Modern Romantic, which took place at the festival, are nominated for „Music Event of the Year – Concert“ in the classical and contemporary music category.

Andrés Þór Gunnlaugsson, artistic director of Síðdegistónar in Hafnarborg, is also warmly congratulated on the nomination of this new concert series as „Music Event of the Year – Concerts“ in the jazz and blues category, Furthermore, Andrés Þór is warmly congratulated on his nomination as „Musician of the Year“ in the same category.

We also wish the many performers who have appeared at the Song Festival, Síðdegistónar, the lunchtime concerts and the Hljóðönum concert series the best of luck with their nominations, with special mention of the violinist Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir, who is nominated for „Musician of the Year“ in the classical and contemporary music category. Last year, Halla Steinunn took part in the performance of Davíð Brynjar Franzson's exhibition, Urban acoustics in the form of an English garden, with his instrumental playing.

The work of Hafnarborg and all those involved in its events and festivals is truly enriched and crystallised by tones and magic. Thank you to the jury and organisers of the Icelandic Music Awards for the great honour bestowed upon Hafnarborg through these nominations.
