An application, along with supporting documents, must be received by 4 p.m. on Monday to ensure it will be considered at the regular council meeting the following Thursday.

Application is made on Our pages.

Ideas for building stables

New stable owners can have their stables designed and drawn in accordance with the building volume in square metres on a given plot. Architect Sveinn Ívarsson has designed ideas that three sizes of houses (A, B and C) can be built on the site (S stands for concrete and T for timber). If a plot holder wishes to use Sveinn's plans, they must contact him directly.

Measurement sheets

Plans show the sizes of plots, plot boundaries, building envelopes, the binding building line, the number of parking spaces and any other covenants.

Height chart

Contour lines show the elevations at the site boundaries furthest from the street (L) and the elevations of the plots to the pavement (G). The elevation figures (H) are indicative of the main elevation, and any deviations should be referred to the town planning department. The elevation sheets also show the location of water and sewer pipes and, where applicable, access points for utility companies.

A sörla area with the best in town

The Riding Club Sörli was founded on 7 February 1944. Sörli's riding area is among the best and most beautiful in the capital region. It includes, among other things:

  • A lit bridleway between Hlíðarþúfna and Sörlaskeið.
  • Two riding rings around Gráhelluhraun.
  • A horse riding trail through Smyrlabúðarhraun, connecting the Sörla area to the riding trails in Heiðmörk.
  • A bridleway along the Pilgrims' Route which connects to the bridleway network of other equestrian clubs.

Along the riding trails, Sörli has set up stopping points where riders can tie up their horses while they rest. The National Federation of Equestrians has prepared an electronic map with numerous riding trails. The Sörli club facilities and riding arena are at Sörlaskeið 13a, and the equestrian club is responsible for the area.
