Increased traffic safety in our town
We, the residents of Hafnarfjörður, now have the opportunity to influence the review of the town's traffic safety plan. The aim is to develop an action plan that promotes greater safety, reduces accidents and improves the quality of life for residents and other road users. Children will also be consulted, as Hafnarfjörður is a child-friendly community.
Increased traffic safety in our town
Hafnarfjörður is currently revising its traffic safety plan. The aim is to develop an action plan that promotes greater safety, reduces accidents and improves the quality of life for residents and other road users.
Hazards in the traffic will be mapped. This mapping is based not only on where accidents have occurred but also on residents' experiences of hazardous locations and potential obstacles in the street and path network.
To ensure that residents' voices are heard, the local authority has decided to hold a digital public consultation. This will give residents the opportunity to submit their suggestions. We are seeking information from you about the most dangerous situations you have experienced in traffic, along with their locations on a map.
And – this work isn't just for adults. The children in Year 3, Year 6 and Year 9 are also taking part in the survey at their school. Pupils first answer a few questions about how they got to school that day and how they usually travel. Afterwards, they are shown an aerial photograph of Hafnarfjörður which shows the location of the primary school, and are asked to draw their walking or cycling route to school.
The feedback portal for residents will be open until 1 June via the following link:
