Ívar Bragason has been appointed as the legal counsel for the City of Hafnarfjörður. Ívar has extensive knowledge of municipal affairs and has worked as a lawyer within the administration of the City of Hafnarfjörður since the beginning of 2017.

Sigríður Kristinsdóttir, former Director of the Directorate of Administration and Town Solicitor, took up the position of Sheriff of the Capital Region in January 2021.
Ivar completed his Master of Laws (mag. jur.) degree from the University of Iceland in 2008 and was admitted as a district court lawyer the same year. Ivar worked at the Office of the City Lawyer before joining the City of Hafnarfjörður, and was previously with LOGOS Law Firm and the Mörkin Law Firm. Ivar's work for the City of Hafnarfjörður has included handling cases before the District Court, contract drafting, and providing legal advice, particularly in the fields of environmental and planning law. The City Solicitor for the City of Hafnarfjörður handles legal matters on behalf of the city and acts as a legal advisor to the City Council, boards and committees, the Mayor, and the city's institutions. The City Lawyer works closely with a team of lawyers, and at Hafnarfjörður City, four lawyers handle legal matters.
