Comprehensive Health Promotion for the 65+ is a project run by Janus Health Promotion and the City of Hafnarfjörður for individuals aged 65 or over who are registered residents of Hafnarfjörður. The project has been running since January 2018 and this February, more people aged 65+ have the opportunity to take part! An information meeting will be held at Hraunsel, Flatahraun 3, on Thursday 9 February at 5 p.m., and all interested parties are encouraged to attend.

A new group will be taken on in February 2023.

The programme involves targeted endurance and strength training, regular health assessments, education and advice on healthy nutrition and other health-promoting factors. The aim of participating in the project is to improve performance and motor skills despite advancing age. The aim is also to enable the individual to better slow the effects of ageing through targeted training, so that they can, for example, carry out activities of daily living for longer and live in their own home for longer.

Included for participants:

  • Strength training with a coach at Reebok Fitness, Tjarnarvellir, twice a week.
  • Endurance training with a coach once a week
