Hafnarfjörður is seeking to hire dynamic staff for a rewarding position at a home for people with disabilities, located in Svalaás in the Ásland district. The work is carried out in accordance with the philosophy Servant leadership.

This is an exciting and enjoyable job with a variety of tasks. The successful candidate must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and nights. 

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Providing service users with support with activities of daily living
  • Follow service plans and procedures
  • Get service users involved in various leisure activities.
  • Have fun at work and be a role model for others
  • Doing the housework
  • Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.

Competency requirements:

  • Interest in the affairs of disabled people
  • Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement, A2 language level. ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
  • Service-mindedness and positivity at work
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Initiative and conscientiousness
  • Physical ability to carry out demanding tasks in the workplace
  • Experience in a comparable role is desirable.

 

It is desirable that the person is 20 years of age or older, and a clean criminal record is a prerequisite.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
