Summer job at a home for disabled people – Blikaás

The City of Hafnarfjörður is looking to hire energetic and enthusiastic staff for summer relief work at a home for people with disabilities, located in Blikási, Hafnarfjörður. 

This is a varied and exciting job on a shift basis. The position is 80-100% or by arrangement, and the successful candidate must be able to work morning, evening, night and weekend shifts.

Working according to an ideology Servant leadership with a focus on residents feeling well in a comfortable and safe environment.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Providing residents with support with activities of daily living
  • Adhere to service plans and procedures
  • Encourage residents to participate in the community and in leisure activities.
  • Have fun at work and be a role model for others
  • General household chores
  • Other duties as described in the job description

Competency requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Interest in the affairs of disabled people
  • Service-mindedness and positivity at work
  • Skills in human communication are essential.
  • Initiative and conscientiousness
  • Independent working methods and flexibility in work
  • A driving licence is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement, A2 language standard ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
  • Physical ability to carry out tasks in the workplace

It is desirable that the applicant is 20 years of age, but a clean criminal record is a prerequisite.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
