Hafnarfjörður is looking to hire dynamic staff for a rewarding role at a home for people with disabilities, located in Völlunum. The work is based on the Servant-Leadership philosophy. 

An exciting and enjoyable role with a variety of tasks on a shift pattern. The successful candidate must be able to work mornings, evenings, nights and weekends. We are looking for staff for a temporary summer position, with the possibility of a permanent role in the autumn. We are looking for staff who can start work around mid-May. The position is 80–100% full-time, shift work. 

Key responsibilities and duties: 

  • Providing residents with support with activities of daily living 
  • Have fun at work, be a role model for others and show initiative. 
  • Adhere to service plans and procedures 
  • Encourage residents to participate in the community and in leisure activities. 
  • General household chores 
  • Communication with various service providers 
  • Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior. 

Competency requirements:

  • Experience in similar roles is desirable. 
  • Interest in the affairs of disabled people 
  • Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement. 
  • Service-mindedness and positivity at work 
  • Interpersonal skills 
  • Initiative and conscientiousness 
  • Good computer skills 
  • The job requires good physical fitness.  
  • Driving licence a condition  

The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
